The trial that was supposed to start tomorrow was moved from Craig to Juneau. It's a long story, and I do not want to become the story, but with the change of venue, it has been postponed for one week. It should start on 1/23/06.
For more info on the case, I would check out this site, which generally covers the basics. I do not want to comment about the case because this is a small state and I don't want what I say or think to be headline news.
As far as I know, Court TV is still planning on webcasting the trial. I don't know about other states, but generally, some media group files with the court to broadcast the trial. The court in this case has allowed 1 camera in the court, requesting that various media pool the coverage so there are not several cameras in the court at the same time. 48 Hours, Dateline NBC, and ABC News are all interested in doing shows on this trial (Dateline NBC, 48 Hours, and Court TV have all requested to cover this trial). It is rather surprising to get a phone call from a major network news person and to realize that they have requested the entire court file, which is rather voluminous.
I will keep you all posted about what happens. In the meantime, I am using the extra week for further preparation.
